Is it true that Parkinson's disease cannot be cured?

Parkinson 's disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects body movements. Parkinson's symptoms appear gradually, sometimes beginning with a tremor or tremor that is barely noticeable in only one hand. Shaking or tremors are common, but these disorders often cause stiffness or slow movement.

Here are the treatments that people with Parkinson's need to undergo:

Levodopa. The most common treatment to help replenish dopamine in people with Parkinson's. Generally, they will be given with carbidopa, to delay the breakdown of levodopa which will increase the availability of levodopa in the blood to the brain. 

Dopamine Agonists. This drug can mimic the action of dopamine in the brain, it's just not as effective as levodopa. However, this drug can be useful as a bridging drug if levodopa is less effective. 

Anticholinergics. Used to block the parasympathetic nervous system which can help with stiffness. 

Amantadine (Symmetrel). Glutamate blocking drugs that help in the short term in involuntary movements (dyskinesia).

Catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors. Helps prolong the effects of levodopa. 

MAO B inhibitors. Functions to inhibit the monoamine oxidase B enzyme. This enzyme breaks down dopamine in the brain. 

Surgery for People with Parkinson's

Surgery or surgery is performed for people who are unable to respond to medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes. Two main types of surgery are used to treat Parkinson's, namely:

Deep brain simulation. This is the process of implanting electrodes in certain parts. This operation serves to reduce symptoms.

Pump deliver therapy . The operation is performed by placing a pump near the small intestine. The pump produces a combination of levodopa and carbidopa.

Complications from Parkinson's can severely reduce quality of life and prognosis. For example, people with Parkinson's can experience dangerous falls and blood clots in the lungs and legs. Complications can be fatal. That is the importance of proper treatment to improve prognosis and life expectancy. 

It may be difficult to slow down the progression of Parkinson's, but with treatment and prevention of complications, a person can have a better quality of life for as long as possible. 

Until now, there are still many experts who do not understand the causes of Parkinson's and why it develops in different people. This makes it difficult to prevent this disease.

Each year, researchers investigate why Parkinson's occurs and what can be done to prevent it. Recent research suggests lifestyle factors, such as regular exercise and a diet rich in antioxidants, may have a protective effect. 

If you have a family history of Parkinson's, you should consider doing genetic testing. Certain genes have been linked to Parkinson's. However, it is important to know, that having a gene mutation does not mean that someone will definitely have the disease.
